Don't miss seeing Ray Archer

Raymond A. ‘Ray’ Archer III serves as Vice President of Americas Manufacturing for Dell’s Americas Operations. Ray and his team are responsible for management and operations of Dell’s production facilities in Austin, Texas, and Nashville, Tennessee, where the company manufactures desktop computers, servers and storage products for Dell customers throughout North America.  Previously, Mr. Archer served as Vice President, Dell Americas Supply Chain Management.

Prior to joining Dell in August 2002, Mr. Archer completed a distinguished 38-year military career as Vice President/COO of the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) in Fort Belvoir, Va. possessing an extensive background in logistics; he held numerous key positions ashore and at sea throughout his career. He retired from military service as a Rear Admiral.

While serving as the COO, Mr. Archer helped revolutionize the DLA's logistics support and services to the nation's war fighters and peacekeepers. Under his direction, the DLA re-engineered itself to become a leader in the dynamic, fast-moving transformation efforts within the Department of Defense to improve military readiness while reducing costs.

Mr. Archer received many honors during his military career, including the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, Defense Superior Service Medal, three Legions of Merit, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, and four Meritorious Service Medals. The Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command awarded him a Meritorious Service Medal for providing logistics support during Battle Force Zulu, Operation Desert Storm.  He was appointed by President Clinton to the board of directors for the Committee of the Blind and Severely Disabled.

A native of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Mr. Archer received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from The Ohio State University School of Business and a master’s degree in business administration from the Duke University Graduate School of Business. He was Duke's 1978 Faculty Fellow.
