Functional Breakout Sessions 1. "Families First" – The Future of DOD Personal Property Program Families First will be the Department of Defense Future Personal Property Program. This session will provide a comprehensive overview of the functionality, status and timeline for implementation of the Families First program to include the new Defense Personal Property System (DPS) and the electronic payment process using US Bank’s PowerTrack system. 2. DOD Travel Charge Card Program – Centrally Billed Accounts This session is designed for agency program coordinators, account managers, transportation officers, certifying officials and resource advisors responsible for one or more CBA. It will provide updates and discussions on significant CBA issues to include:
3. Passenger Travel – The New Normalcy Safety, security, and liability are the major points of this session. Learn the safety issues involved with the Military Bus Program; get travel security updates from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA); and who's liable if you have a car accident while on official business with a rental car or truck? 4. Today’s Personal Property Program – The Basics A key attribute of the DOD Personal Property Program is improving the quality of service for the DOD member and civilian personnel. This session will focus efforts implemented that enhance the movement of domestic and international personal property 5. Key Aspects of Personal Property – Long Term Household Goods Storage and POV Shipment The Non-Temporary Storage Program has evolved to a tender based system. Come learn about the changes that recently took place and its planned evolution into Families First. Also discussed is the direct procurement method process. Finally there will be discussion on the Global POV Contract and its enhanced features. 6. Defense Travel System – Into The Future A panel of subject matter experts from the Program Management Office (PMO) will provide the latest information on the status of the Defense Travel System (DTS). Discussion will include details on added functionality and customer improvements being delivered in future DTS software releases. Also, the panel will provide an update on procurement efforts for Commercial Travel Services for DOD. A question and answer period will follow to a follow to address items of interest from the floor. The presentations will compliment booth demonstrations on the exhibit floor. 7. RFID/ITV The latest electronic technology is being employed by DoD to track cargo within the Defense Transportation System. Radio Frequency Identification or RFID tags are fast becoming a common item attached to unit equipment and containers. Come and see a display of the latest hardware and software. 8. Sustaining the Force This session will highlight sustainment successes achieved in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, intransit visibility improvements, and container management issues and solutions in theater. 9. Transportation Security Initiatives Our continuing focus is upon the critical area of transportation security. This panel will discuss where we are going in the future for transportation security to assure a safe and secure distribution network. It will give a heads up on emerging security standards for critical infrastructure physical security in maritime, rail, highway, pipeline, and mass transit; risks to ports, terminals, bridges, tunnels, and stations. Additionally, we will address infrastructure improvements to mitigate vulnerabilities, immediate response, technical solutions for tracking, and coordination initiatives. 10. IRRIS IRRIS was developed as a Web-based solution to support Department of Defense deployment engineering and logistical decision-makers. In addition to critical infrastructure information and real-time data, IRRIS provides readily accessible information for monitoring and tracking shipments from departure to delivery. 11. Defense Transportation Coordination Initiative (DTCI) – Gaining Effectiveness Through Implementation of Commercial Best Practices The vision of DTCI is to develop a long-term partnership with a world-class coordinator of transportation management services to improve the reliability, predictability, and efficiency of Department of Defense (DoD) materiel moving nation-wide within the Continental United States (CONUS). Session will provide an update on the acquisition effort to include high-level joint requirements and project milestones followed by a panel discussion. 12. TRSWA, PPCIG-OL and 2DMSL TRSWA supports the existing DoD TOPS by allowing remote sites that do not have TOPS access to view, and record, information on inbound shipments. TRSWA also allows sites to enter basic service member information, and details for outbound shipments. The PPCIG-OL is used by installations to update and retrieve, via the web, consignment information for the movement of personal property for DoD and U. S. State Department. We'll also discuss the use of the 2DMSL to enter DoD personal property shipments into the Defense Transportation System. 13. What's Taking You So Long To Award That Contract? This presentation will provide an insight into the acquisition process for industry and our SDDC client community; from identification of client need through contract award and administration. 14. Air Mobility Command Air Transportation Initiatives This session will provide an update on current and future improvements to Air Mobility Command air transportation. This will include a brief overview of the air transportation services tool kit and in-depth look into initiatives that affect DOD transportation offices. A sample of topics to be covered include Patriot Express restructuring, regional cargo billing rates, and Integrated Transportation Management. 15. Transportation and/or Travel Allowances Wherever your interest lie, one or both of these sessions will be helpful to you! The first session on Tuesday and again on Wednesday will deal with Transportation of "Stuff" (HHG, POVs, mobile homes) and the implications of orders. The second session on Tuesday will be Travel of People and will cover issues related to travel by air and other modes, premium-class transportation, and some of the things about which travelers need to be trained by their commands. Lots to cover but there will be time for questions.
