COL. Stanley H. Wolosz, IIColonel Stan Wolosz serves as the Chief of Staff for the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command.  He completed the Transportation Officers Basic Course in 1983 and served in the 28th Transportation Battalion, Mannheim, Germany, as a Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer and Detachment Commander.  

After the Transportation Officers Advanced Course, he returned to Mannheim and served in the 181st Transportation Battalion as the S-1, assistant S-3 and Commander of the 41st Transportation Company, a line haul unit that moved ammunition for the V (US) Corps.  He next moved to Cherryville, North Carolina where he worked in the Training with Industry Program with the Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation followed by an assignment at the Military Traffic Management Command Eastern Area in Bayonne, New Jersey in the Directorate of International Traffic. 

In 1993, COL Wolosz assumed duties as Aide de Camp to the Commanding General, U. S. Army Transportation Center and Fort Eustis followed by assignment as Battalion S-3 and Executive Officer of the 6th Transportation Battalion, 7th Transportation Group deploying twice to Port au Prince, Haiti and once to Dammam, Saudi Arabia.  He finished his time at Fort Eustis as the Commanding General’s Executive Officer and in 1997 moved to Seoul, South Korea where he worked as the Chief of the Transportation Plans Branch, US/ROK Combined Forces Command until June of 2000.

His next assignment was in Bristol, Rhode Island as the Logistics Chief Observer Controller with the 2nd Simulation Exercise Group, 1st Brigade, 78th Training Support Division.  In 2003 he assumed command of the 831st Transportation Battalion in Southwest Asia, a forward based headquarters under the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC) supporting operations with units and contractors throughout the Middle East, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the Horn of Africa.  COL Wolosz served next as the SDDC Commanding General’s Director for Transformation and Initiatives and as the Chief of the Joint Training and Exercises Division, United States Transportation Command and in 2008 he assumed command of SDDC’s 595th Transportation Group.  With responsibility for common user port operations, commercial ocean container movements, and deployment and distribution support in the CENTCOM and Eastern AFRICOM Areas of Responsibility, COL Wolosz and his unit directly supported Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom and in July 2009 he left command to assume duties as the SDDC Chief of Staff.

A native of Worcester, Massachusetts, he graduated from the College of the Holy Cross with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science, has a Master of Science Degree in Business Management from Troy State University and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.

COL Wolosz has been awarded the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal, two Defense Meritorious Service Medals, three Meritorious Service Medals, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, six Army Commendation Medals, two Joint Service Achievement Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, two Joint Meritorious Unit Awards, a Meritorious Unit Citation, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Southwest Asia Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, the United Nations Medal and the Army Parachutist badge.
